Departures form Naciones Unidas Boulevard (Av. Shyris & Av. Naciones Unidas)
How to get
We will start the tour on board the only double-decker bus in Quito.
During your visit you will observe the altarpieces that were carved by the first teachers of the Quito school of art, they are covered with gold leaf.
You will be able to observe the main altar, totally covered with gold leaf, it has Baroque and Mudejar influences. The sacristy and pulpit were the last elements to be completed. The Cathedral was officially completed and consecrated by the second Bishop of Quito, Mons. Fray Pedro de la Peña in 1572.
During our visit we will climb through narrow passageways to access the domes, from here you will closely observe the famous Gallito de la Catedral, you will also be able to enjoy a beautiful view of the Plaza Grande, El Sagrario and the Panecillo. In the domes you will have time to take the best pictures with this incredible landscape.
In this church are buried the remains of Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, leader of the Battle of Pichincha and former President García Moreno, there are also several characters from our Ecuadorian history.
Finally we will access the catacombs to be able to admire this mysterious part of the church. (This attraction can be kept closed by decision of the church).

We stopped a number of places we weren’t expecting to see which added to the experience, and we passed though the areas where Jessy and David were born and grew up, which made us realise how in touch with the local area they both were.
On top of all of this the views were stunning, and although it was a long day overall we felt the time passed by quickly with watching the landscape. Not to mention the waterfalls. I would also recommend the zip lining through the jungle!
If you are interested in not only seeing the beautiful views but hearing about the local area definitely choose this tour. We’ll be back!

Jimmy the driver is a very experienced South American driver familiar with the local flow and areas. He was consistently safe and efficient.
Highly recommend the tour! Be ready to hike!
