This active volcano is the tenth highest mountain in the country and can be climbed to its top. Typically, a couple of days are required to carry out this activity. On the first day, you must go to Pandoa, the entrance of the Tungurahua volcano, and once there, you must take a walk at approximately 03h00 (3 hours) to reach the refuge.
If you want to make the ascent to the Tungurahua volcano, you must spend the night in the refuge and get up at dawn the next day to start the walk to the top. Getting to the top of the Tungurahua volcano takes approximately six hours. Later, you must descend from the top, reach the refuge again and return to Baños.
